London to Ho Chi Minh by train (and boat!): Day 2.
So wonderful to be back in Amsterdam today. Everytime I pass through this amazing city I promise myself that one day I’ll move here. I wonder if I ever will… In so many ways it’s a perfect city – an inspiring quality of life seems to be at everyone’s fingertips. (Of course, in reality it’s still only true for the privileged few…)
We stayed again with a dear friend and The Netherlands’ Theologian of the Year, 2016. She introduced us to Amsterdam’s vibrant public debating scene that follows a long, local tradition of connecting experts and population, ensuring that both are informed and challenged by the other.
Perhaps it’s this connection that has helped Amsterdam to build a feeling of togetherness and a commitment to progress.
