Bogie Exchange!

London to Ho Chi Minh by train (and boat!): Day 7.
Took a really modern and comfortable train from Warsaw to Minsk last night. It was super fun to be all tucked up in a little cabin – which is lucky as we’re going to be doing way more of that over the next few weeks.
The BEST part of it though was the fact that our train changed wheels once we entered Belarus. Apparently the spacing of the rails in different in former USSR countries compared to western Europe. So rather than asking you to wake up during your journey and switch trains, they change the wheels for you!

It was so exciting. I felt like a little kid in a toy store. So instead of sleeping as I was supposed to, I spent most of my time peeping if the windows to try to figure out how they manage the switch. I failed, but was fun anyway.
Even more exciting is that I just found out on Google that the process of switching wheels is called a Bogie Exchange!

Next stop: Moscow
— in Minsk, Belarus.
